David Dunlop

David Dunlop has been a faculty member at the Silvermine School of Art in Norwalk, Connecticut since 1993 and serves currently on their board of directors. His work is nationally known and featured in many prominent collections throughout the country. He uses painting techniques dating back to the old masters of the Renaissance, frequently employing a 14th century method of painting on gold leaf.  This method seduces the viewer with a glowing luminescence.  His work animates spaces with superb composition and a scintillating contemplative quality.

Dunlop was recently featured in an article in US News and World Report, as well as in a feature article in The New York Times.  He illustrated the book "Tidewaters of the Connecticut River – An Explorer’s Guide to Hidden Coves and Marshes," published by River’s End Press.  Television producer Connie Stevens is making a video series on his popular class, "How to Paint a Really Good Landscape," with a projected television series in development.

Dunlop has won many prestigious awards and his work can be found in many collections including:  Chemical Bank: Citibank; City of Milford CT; City of Fairfield CT; Colgate Palmolive; Connecticut National Bank; Delta Airlines; Dun & Bradstreet; Ernst and Young; Exxon; GE Capital; IBM; Merrill Lynch; Office of the Governor, State of Missouri; U.S. Department of State
